Share a theme, vary the activity

A younger participant can trace an animal while an older child tries making a related character in six steps. Another family member may prefer a grid challenge. The shared theme gives everyone something to discuss, even when their pages and finished pictures differ.

Make the next step optional

Once the main character is finished, offer a small choice: add color, invent a name, or sketch an accessory. The extension should be an invitation rather than a requirement. Children can share what they made without comparing whose drawing is most accurate.

Try a common starting shape
