Start with the holiday cast

The dedicated Halloween and Christmas books give children familiar seasonal subjects. Choose tracing for an outline-first activity or an instructional drawing edition for building the character. A child can use the finished art as inspiration for a handmade decoration or card.

Personalize instead of matching a sample

Holiday themes still leave room for invented colors, expressions, and little scenes. The character can be festive without looking the same as someone else’s picture. Ask what story the finished figure belongs to if the child wants an extra prompt.

Plan a small project

One character can be enough for an art session. Avoid assuming that every seasonal book includes craft templates, detachable pages, or ready-made cards; these are character art activities, with any craft extension supplied by the artist.
