How to run it

  1. Make groups of 4 to 6

Push desks together and give each group one relay sheet.

  2. Run the drawing relay

Each kid adds one part, following the six steps on the sheet: body, head, arms, legs, something it holds, background. Then pass to the left.

  3. Name the creation

The group agrees on a name. This is the loud part; give it a minute.

  4. Gallery walk

Groups walk around and look at the other tables’ creatures.

  5. Five-minute filler

Play draw-and-guess on the board, or try monster mashup if there is time left.

Tip: Laminate a few relay sheets and use dry-erase markers. They last all year.
