Theme weeks: one subject, five ways to draw it

Pick a subject your kid loves. Each day uses a different kind of drawing, from easy tracing on Monday to a comic of their own on Friday. About 20 minutes a day.

  • MondayTrace it

Follow the lines, then color your way.

  • TuesdayBuild it

Draw it yourself in six easy steps.

  • WednesdayGrid it

Copy it one square at a time.

  • ThursdayInvent it

Turn a random shape into a new one.

  • FridayComic day

Put the week’s characters in a story.

Choose a week

Why five different ways?

Each day builds on the one before. Tracing gets the pencil moving with nothing to get wrong. Step-by-step drawing shows that a character is just a few simple shapes. Grid drawing trains the eye to look closely. Inventing from a shape asks for an idea of their own, and the comic puts it all to work in a story.

Younger kids (3 to 4) can stop after Monday and Tuesday. Older kids often want to repeat Thursday and Friday.
