Theme week
Dinosaur week: five days, five ways to draw dinosaurs
About 20 minutes a day. Trace a T. rex on Monday, and by Friday your kid has invented a dinosaur and put it in a comic.
- Ages 4 to 10
- About 20 minutes a day
- A free page for most days
Trace a dinosaur, then color it any way you like
Follow the dotted lines with a pencil, then go wild with color. A purple T. rex with spots is allowed.
Draw a stegosaurus yourself in six steps
Start with an oval body and add the plates last. Kids are always surprised it’s their own drawing.
Copy a dinosaur one square at a time
Look at one small square and draw just that. It builds focus, and it’s great for kids who say “I can’t draw.”
Turn a random shape into a brand-new dinosaur
Pick a squiggle and find the dinosaur hiding in it. Name it something ridiculous.
Put the week’s dinosaurs in a four-panel comic
Monday’s T. rex meets Thursday’s invention. What happens next is up to your kid.
The whole week in three books
The same dinosaurs, three different ways to make them.
